Planning Work Time in Canggu: Connection, Desk, Time Zone and Permission

Working near the coast needs more preparation than opening a laptop between outings. Confirm both the practical setup and the permission appropriate to your activities separately from booking accommodation.

Ask about the actual workspace

Wi-Fi availability is not the same as a suitable place for long calls. Check desk size, chair, lighting, power and whether conversations will disturb others. At Villa Rumah Wayan, do not assume a dedicated office, soundproof meeting room or guaranteed connection performance; explain your requirements before booking.

Test your real workload

After arrival, try a video call or upload in the room and at the time you will work. Look at stability, not only one speed-test result. If you need a backup, arrange a plan that allows tethering and practise connecting your laptop. See the SIM and eSIM guide.

Set the time zone correctly

Bali uses UTC+8; Japan uses UTC+9. A 10 am meeting in Japan is 9 am in Bali. Check calendar settings so local and client times do not get mixed. For other countries, account for daylight-saving changes where applicable.

Check permission separately

Permission to visit as a tourist does not automatically cover every kind of work. Check the appropriate status for your employer, compensation and activities with Indonesian Immigration. A room booking is not work authorisation.

Protect work days

Keep traffic-dependent outings away from important calls. Avoid changing your setup immediately before a deadline. Place longer excursions on days without meetings.
