Bali Airport to Canggu: Choosing a Ride and Finding Your Driver

The useful question after a long flight is not just “Which ride is cheapest?” It is “Where will I meet the driver?” Landing time is not the same as the time you will leave the terminal.

Arrange ahead or book after landing?

Consider a pre-arranged car for a first visit, children, bulky bags or a late arrival. Share your flight number, passenger count and suitcase count. Ask about waiting time, flight delays, parking charges and the total fare. A room reservation does not automatically include an airport transfer.

Grab and Gojek are alternatives if you are comfortable with the apps and have working data. Check luggage capacity as well as passenger seats; a motorbike service is not a substitute for a car with suitcases.

From baggage claim to the car

• Collect your bags and test mobile data before requesting a ride.
• Open the accommodation address and map pin.
• Follow the app or transfer provider’s instructions for your terminal.
• Send a visible landmark or pillar number once you reach the meeting point.
• Match the driver and vehicle registration to the booking before boarding.

Leave space around both airport journeys

Immigration, baggage collection, waiting for a car and the road journey are separate stages. Avoid a dinner reservation that assumes you will reach Canggu within an hour of landing.

For the return trip, work backwards from your airline’s required airport arrival time, then add the road estimate and a buffer. The outbound journey is not a reliable return-time guarantee. Save the property access page for your driver.
