Canggu and Ubud support different trips. Rather than planning to commute between them repeatedly, ask what you want to do after waking up.
Choose Canggu for a coastal routine
Breakfast, time by the sea and an afternoon back at your accommodation can form a complete day. Check whether the beach requires a ride; being in Canggu does not establish that your particular property is walkable to it.
Choose Ubud for inland visits
Start with the cultural sites and inland places you want to visit. The Indonesian tourism board’s Ubud guide is a useful starting point. A property marketed as “Ubud” may still be away from the centre, so compare its pin with your actual destinations.
For two to four nights, one base may be enough
Packing, checkout, transport and checking in again all use holiday time. Stay near your main interests and consider a separate visit only if the schedule allows it. Do not automatically treat Ubud from Canggu as an easy half-day return trip; allow a full day when your route and plans require it.
A split stay needs a transfer day
If you add sightseeing during the move, confirm luggage arrangements, driver waiting time, extra charges and the next property’s check-in time. Make changing accommodation the main commitment rather than squeezing it between several attractions.
Neither base is universally better. Agree your priorities—coast, food, culture or rest—before adapting a three-night itinerary.
