A short distance is not enough to choose transport in Canggu. Pavements, darkness, luggage and group size can change what is practical.
Walk when the route works
Check the road in daylight where possible. A walking route on a map does not guarantee a continuous pavement. Consider a car for dark roads, heavy rain or bulky bags even when the distance is short. Do not assume the shoreline is a safe shortcut.
Book a car for a point-to-point trip
With services such as Grab or Gojek, check passenger and luggage capacity, fare, pickup point and payment method before requesting. Give the driver an entrance landmark. Confirm where pickup is actually possible instead of moving the pin to somewhere you cannot reach.
Arrange driver time for several stops
For an outing with sightseeing and a meal, share the full route before asking for a quote. Confirm included hours, overtime, parking, tolls and the final drop-off. “Half a day” is not a precise agreement on its own.
Do not choose a motorbike on price alone
Both passenger rides and self-drive rentals involve different risks from cars. For self-driving, verify licence and permit requirements for your nationality, insurance coverage and your own skills. Government travel advice provides road-safety context.
Give the group one meeting point
Share a specific entrance, not only the venue name. If splitting into vehicles, make sure each driver has the destination. Airport pickup has its own procedures, covered in the arrival guide.
