You can use a charger in Bali only when its input voltage and frequency suit the local supply and its plug connects correctly. A label reading “INPUT 100–240V, 50/60Hz” includes Indonesia's supply specification, but a 100V-only appliance cannot be made compatible with a plug adapter alone. Check each item you plan to bring, not just the phone it charges.
Bali's plug types and electricity supply
The electrical safety charity Electrical Safety First's Indonesia guidance lists plug types C and F and a 230V, 50Hz supply. These types use two round pins, but physical fit and electrical compatibility are different checks.
This is general destination guidance, not an inspection or measurement of the sockets in individual Villa Rumah Wayan rooms. If an appliance needs an earth connection, check with its manufacturer that your proposed connection preserves it. Do not assume one simple two-pin adapter suits every appliance.
Look at the small print on the charger that plugs into the wall, not just the phone. “INPUT 100–240V 50/60Hz” is an example of a label describing the supply a charger accepts. Check its instructions and arrange a suitable plug adapter and cable.
“OUTPUT 5V” or “9V” describes the power delivered to the device; it does not establish compatibility with the wall supply. If the label is unreadable or you cannot find the instructions, check the model number with the manufacturer. Chargers used with the same phone do not necessarily have identical specifications.
Treat 100V-only hair appliances separately
A travel plug adapter changes the connection shape. It does not change voltage or frequency. Do not connect a hair dryer or straightener marked for 100V only by simply changing its plug shape.
Voltage converters and transformers also have maximum power ratings. A compact travel product is not automatically suitable for every appliance: check the conditions specified by both manufacturers. Leave an unverified appliance at home, or consider a product whose manufacturer explicitly supports the destination supply. For a device with a manual voltage selector, follow that model's instructions.
Three checks before packing
- Check the INPUT voltage and frequency of each charger or appliance.
- Choose an adapter with the correct fit, rating and any required earth connection.
- Bring compatible cables rather than relying on unconfirmed loan equipment.
For a travel adapter with USB ports, read the instructions for the USB charging section and the mains plug-adapter section separately. Providing USB charging does not mean the product converts the mains voltage for a connected 100V-only appliance.
What to ask Rumah Wayan
If socket shape, socket position, a loan adapter or a hair dryer matters to your stay, use the contact page to share the device model and your requirements. This article does not establish that particular sockets or loan items are provided. The FAQ covers general stay conditions.
